YunExpress shipping times: how long YunExpress takes by country, measured, and how to read its tracking

YunExpress parcels to the US took a median 11.0 days from first scan to door. To Australia, the slowest 1 in 10 took over 3 weeks.

Search how long YunExpress takes and you get four different answers: 3 to 7 working days, 7 to 15, 10 to 20 business days, or "anywhere from 10 to 30". They are all estimates, most are in business days, and none says whether the clock starts at the order or at the first scan.

Measured on YunExpress parcels with a first carrier scan from May to July 2026, the median parcel to the US took 11.0 days from the first scan to the delivered scan, which is 8 business days. Canada and the UK were within a few hours of that. Germany and Australia took about a day longer at the median, Mexico about four days longer, and the slow end ran furthest in Australia.

This guide covers:

  • How long YunExpress takes to seven countries, measured in calendar days and business days
  • Why published YunExpress times look shorter than what your customer sees
  • How far the slow end runs per country
  • Where the days go on a YunExpress parcel, leg by leg
  • How to read a YunExpress tracking number and the handover to a local carrier
Days from the first YunExpress scan in China to delivered, May to July 2026, median and 9 in 10 within: United States 11.0 and 15.2; Canada 11.1 and 16.0; United Kingdom 11.2 and 16.8; New Zealand 11.8 and 16.8; Germany 12.2 and 17.1; Australia 12.2 and 22.0; Mexico 15.2 and 20.4
Six of the seven countries sit between 11 and 12.2 days at the median. The slow end is where they split.

How long YunExpress takes by country: 11 to 15 days at the median

Counted from YunExpress's first scan in China to the first delivered scan, on parcels that got one:

  • United States: median 11.0 days. Half arrived between 9.0 and 13.1 days. 9 in 10 within 15.2.
  • Canada: median 11.1 days. Half between 9.9 and 13.1. 9 in 10 within 16.0.
  • United Kingdom: median 11.2 days. Half between 9.9 and 13.9. 9 in 10 within 16.8, on a smaller sample.
  • New Zealand: median 11.8 days. 9 in 10 within 16.8, smaller sample.
  • Germany: median 12.2 days. Half between 10.9 and 14.3. 9 in 10 within 17.1, smaller sample.
  • Australia: median 12.2 days. Half between 10.1 and 16.0. 9 in 10 within 22.0.
  • Mexico: median 15.2 days. Half between 13.1 and 17.5. 9 in 10 within 20.4, smaller sample.

Almost every parcel got there: a delivered scan showed up on 97.3% to 98.7% of parcels, depending on the country.

YunExpress carried about 7 in 10 of all the tracked parcels in this window, so these numbers rest on a large book. To the US it was a little quicker than all lines combined over the same months, which had a median of 11.9 days and 9 in 10 within 18.1.

Why published YunExpress times look shorter

YunExpress runs several products, and it publishes its estimates per product in business days. Its Standard Express page, for example, lists 5 to 8 business days for the US, 3 to 5 for the UK and 8 to 10 for Canada, without saying when the clock starts.

Three things separate a number like that from what your customer counts:

  • Business days, not calendar days. The US median of 11.0 calendar days is 8 business days. A week has two days nobody counts in a quote but your customer does.
  • The clock starts at the first scan, not the order. The first YunExpress scan came a median 0.7 days after the order to the US. Counted from the order, the US median was 11.8 days and 9 in 10 arrived within 16.6.
  • The product. A quote for one product does not tell you which one a given parcel went on, so a published table is a guide, not a promise for your parcels.

None of that makes a published time wrong. It means the number to put in front of a customer is calendar days from the order. The guide to shipping time estimates from China goes through how to read any quote this way.

The slow end: two weeks covers 8 in 10 US parcels, 2 in 3 Australian

The median is the parcel in the middle. Refund requests come from the slow end, and that is where the countries differ.

Share of delivered YunExpress parcels that arrived within 14 days of the first scan, May to July 2026: United States 83%, Canada 82%, United Kingdom 76%, New Zealand 75%, Germany 67%, Australia 64%, Mexico 32%
Two weeks from the first scan covers about 8 in 10 parcels to the US and Canada, and about 2 in 3 to Germany and Australia.
  • Within 14 days of the first scan: 83% to the US, 82% to Canada, 76% to the UK, 75% to New Zealand, 67% to Germany, 64% to Australia and 32% to Mexico
  • More than 28 days: 0.6% to the US, 0.4% to Canada, 1.1% to Germany and 3.3% to Australia

So about 1 Australian parcel in 30 took more than four weeks, against about 1 in 170 to the US. Mexico is slower across the board, but its slow end is short: half of its parcels arrived between 13.1 and 17.5 days, and 0.4% took more than four weeks.

Where the days go on a YunExpress parcel

Splitting the trip into three legs shows where each country gains or loses time.

Median days per leg on YunExpress parcels, May to July 2026: in China from first scan to departure, flight and customs to the local carrier, and local carrier to the door. United States 6.0, 0.7, 3.7; Canada 6.0, 2.0, 2.8; United Kingdom 7.1, 0.9, 2.9; Germany 5.4, 1.5, 5.0; Australia 7.0, 2.1, 2.4; Mexico 9.7, 3.8, 1.8
The time in China is about a week for most countries. The flight and customs leg and the last mile are where they differ.
  • In China, from the first scan to departure: about 5.4 to 7.1 days for most countries, and 9.7 for Mexico. This is collection, sorting and waiting for space on a flight.
  • Flight and customs, to the local carrier: under a day for the US and the UK, about 1.5 days for Germany, about 2 for Canada and Australia, and 3.8 for Mexico.
  • Local carrier to the door: 1.8 days in Mexico, 2.4 to 2.9 in Australia, Canada and the UK, 3.7 in the US and 5.0 in Germany.

Each leg is a median of its own, so the three do not add up to the total. New Zealand is left out here because its scans for the middle leg are too patchy to report.

How to read a YunExpress tracking number

A YunExpress tracking number starts with YT followed by 16 digits. You can track it on YunExpress's own site or on any tracking aggregator.

What the tracking shows, in order:

  1. Label created. The order is booked. The parcel may still be in the warehouse.
  2. First scan in China. YunExpress has the parcel. This is the scan every number above starts from.
  3. Departed China and arrived in the destination country. The flight leg, then customs release.
  4. Handed to the local carrier. For the last leg, YunExpress hands the parcel to a local carrier: USPS or a private delivery company in the US, the national post or a courier elsewhere. From here the scans are written by that carrier, and the text changes style.
  5. Delivered. Written by the local carrier, often with where it was left: door, mailbox, parcel locker or pickup point.

The handover is where customers get confused. The tracking can go quiet while the parcel moves between networks, and the delivered scan may name a company the customer has never heard of. If a parcel stops on one status for longer than usual, the guide to why your parcel from China is stuck has the normal quiet time for each one.

What delivery time to show for YunExpress orders

Your shipping rate name is the promise your customer reads. A range that holds for about 9 in 10 orders, counted from the order, outside peak season:

  • United States: "Delivered in 9 to 17 days" could hold for about 9 in 10
  • Canada, the United Kingdom and New Zealand: about 10 to 18 days
  • Germany: about 10 to 19 days
  • Australia: about 10 to 24 days, because of the longer slow end
  • Mexico: about 13 to 22 days

In December the same routes slow down by several days. The Q4 shipping dates from China guide has last year's peak numbers and the order-by dates for Christmas.

How to check it for your own store

  1. Export your last three months of orders with the tracking number, the order date and the delivered date.
  2. Keep the YT numbers to look at YunExpress on its own.
  3. Work out the median and the slowest 1 in 10 per country, in calendar days from the order.
  4. Count the orders over 28 days per country. That share is your refund risk.
  5. Compare with your rate names. If more than 1 order in 10 lands after the promise, the promise is too short.

What to do

  • Quote calendar days from the order, not business days from the first scan
  • Set a delivery promise per country, with a longer range for Australia and Mexico
  • Tell customers about the handover, so a local carrier's name on the delivered scan is not a surprise
  • Act on a quiet parcel by its status, not by how many days it has been
  • Measure your own parcels every quarter, because the product mix changes the numbers

How we handle this at Commercive

Commercive is your all in one sourcing and fulfilment partner. We recommend frontier lines like YunExpress, Yanwen and 4PX to essentially every brand we work with, and YunExpress carries most of the parcels we ship.

Every parcel's scans show in our dashboard from the first scan to the delivered scan, including the handover to the local carrier, so you can measure your own times by country instead of trusting a quote. Our measured delivery times by line and country are on our shipping status page, the guide to China shipping lines compared explains how YunExpress fits next to the other tiers, and the guide to Yanwen shipping times measures Yanwen the same way.

If you're currently running a brand, just give us the product and your daily order volume. We'll get you a quote within the next 24 hours to hold up against what you're paying today.

How we measured this. Every YunExpress parcel shipped from stores we fulfil from China with a first carrier scan between 1 May and 31 July 2026, test stores excluded, measured on 11 October 2026 so every parcel had at least 72 days. Times are calendar days from YunExpress's first scan, or from the customer's order where stated, to the first delivered scan, on parcels that got one. Business days count Monday to Friday and do not remove public holidays. Leg times are medians over the parcels that have both scans for that leg. The UK, Germany, Mexico and New Zealand samples are smaller than the others. YunExpress's published estimates are from its Standard Express page as read on 11 October 2026.

How long does YunExpress take to the US?

On YunExpress parcels with a first scan from May to July 2026, the median was 11.0 days from the first scan to delivered, or 8 business days, and 11.8 days from the order. 9 in 10 arrived within about 17 days of the order.

How long does YunExpress take to the UK and Europe?

The UK median was 11.2 days from the first scan and Germany's 12.2, with 9 in 10 within about 17 days of the first scan. The samples are smaller than for the US. For other European countries, the guide to shipping from China to the UK and Europe by country has the times for every line.

Why is YunExpress tracking not updating?

After "label created", several quiet days are routine. After most other scans, 9 in 10 parcels from China get their next update within about 2 days, so a longer silence is worth checking. The handover to the local carrier is the other common quiet spot.

What does a YunExpress tracking number look like?

It starts with YT followed by 16 digits. Once the parcel reaches the destination country, the local carrier may add its own scans under the same number.

Who delivers YunExpress parcels in the US?

YunExpress hands the last leg to a local carrier, which can be USPS or a private delivery company depending on the area. The delivered scan is written by that carrier, which is why its name can be one the customer does not recognise.
