Q4 shipping dates from China: Golden Week, Black Friday and the Christmas order cut-off

Last year about 9 in 10 US orders placed by 30 November arrived by Christmas Eve. Of those placed 8 to 14 December, 1 in 4 did.

If you ship from China, the last safe day for a US customer to order for Christmas is around the end of November. Last year about 9 in 10 US orders placed by 30 November arrived by Christmas Eve, 7 in 10 of those placed in the first week of December did, and 1 in 4 of those placed in the second week.

The rest of Q4 matters too. Golden Week starts on 1 October and adds a few days, the peak adds about a week by early December, and outside the US the first week of December is closer to a coin flip.

This guide covers:

  • Every Q4 date that moves a parcel from China, from Golden Week to Christmas
  • What Golden Week did to delivery times last year, and how fast it recovered
  • How much slower the peak made the typical parcel, week by week
  • The share of last year's orders that arrived by Christmas Eve, by the week they were placed
  • The order-by dates to put on your store for the US, Canada, Australia and the EU
Share of US orders delivered by Christmas Eve 2025 by order week: 92 to 97% for November weeks, 71% for 1 to 7 December, 25% for 8 to 14 December, 0% after 15 December
Last year's US orders, by the week they were placed. The drop starts in the first week of December, not the second.

The Q4 dates that matter, in order

  • 1 to 7 October: Golden Week. China's National Day holiday. Factories and many suppliers close for the week. Make-up working day on Saturday 10 October.
  • 4 October to 17 January: USPS holiday prices. USPS is raising Ground Advantage and Parcel Select prices for the peak, pending review by its regulator. USPS delivers the last mile for many China lines into the US, so it could show up in line rates.
  • 1 November: EU €2 handling fee. Set to start on 1 November, once the Commission's act is published in the EU's Official Journal. Every EU order gets more expensive to land, not slower. Full breakdown in the guide to the new EU customs fees.
  • 11 November: Singles' Day. China's biggest shopping day. One of the busiest weeks of the year for China's parcel network and air cargo.
  • 27 to 30 November: Black Friday to Cyber Monday. Your busiest order week, and the last week whose orders mostly arrived in time for Christmas last year.
  • About 7 December: the practical US cut-off for standard lines from China. After it, most parcels miss Christmas.
  • 6 February 2027: Chinese New Year. Not Q4, but the stock you hold in January decides how you get through it.
Three Q4 windows: Golden Week 1 to 7 October, about 2 to 3 days slower; the peak from Singles' Day on 11 November to Black Friday on 27 November; orders placed by 30 November, 9 in 10 US orders on time for Christmas last year
The three windows to plan Q4 around. 30 November is where 9 in 10 US orders still made Christmas last year.

Golden Week: about 2 to 3 days, then back to normal

Golden Week 2026 runs from Thursday 1 October to Wednesday 7 October. Last year it ran 1 to 8 October, and orders placed that week took longer to arrive:

  • Orders placed in the week of 29 September 2025 took a median 14.0 days from order to door, against 11.4 days for orders two weeks earlier.
  • By the week of 13 October they were back to 11.0 days.
  • The first carrier scan barely moved (a median 1.1 days against 0.7), so most of the delay came after the parcel was scanned: fewer hand-offs, fewer flights, slower line haul.

So Golden Week costs about 2 to 3 days on a parcel that is already moving. The bigger risk is upstream: a supplier that closes for the week cannot restock you until mid October. If a product is running low, reorder now and expect the stock after mid October.

The peak: 5 to 6 days slower by December

Delivery times stretch as Q4 goes on. Median days from order to door for US orders last year, by the week the order was placed:

  • 3 to 9 November: 10.7 days
  • 17 to 23 November: 11.7 days
  • 24 to 30 November (Black Friday week): 13.5 days
  • 1 to 7 December: 15.9 days
  • 8 to 14 December: 17.1 days
Median days from order to door for US orders by order week, November to December 2025: 10.7, 10.7, 11.7, 13.5, 15.9 and 17.1 days
US orders last year, by the week they were placed. The median parcel in the second week of December took about 6 days longer than in early November.

By the second week of December the median US parcel took about 6 days longer than in early November. The slowest 1 in 10 US orders placed in the first half of December took about 24 days. Outside the US it was closer to 3 weeks at the median: about 19 to 20 days to Canada, Australia and the EU for orders placed 1 to 15 December.

The cause is volume at every step at once: Singles' Day and Black Friday fill flights out of China, customs queues grow at the other end, and the last-mile carriers are carrying their own peak. None of it is one carrier's problem, and none of it goes away by switching line in December.

What arrived by Christmas Eve last year

This is the number to set your cut-off by. Share of orders delivered by 24 December 2025, by the week they were placed:

  • Up to 30 November: about 9 in 10 US orders (92 to 97% each week). The ceiling is below 100% in every week because a few parcels are never delivered at all.
  • 1 to 7 December: 71% in the US, 54% in Canada, 59% in Australia.
  • 8 to 14 December: 25% in the US, about 1 in 8 in Canada and Australia.
  • 15 to 21 December: none, anywhere.

The EU followed the same shape on a smaller sample: about 9 in 10 of late-November orders arrived by Christmas Eve, and about 2 in 3 of first-week-of-December orders.

Order-by dates for Christmas 2026

Built from last year's arrivals, for standard lines out of China, counted from the moment the customer orders:

  • US: order by 30 November (Cyber Monday) for about 9 in 10 on time. Orders placed 1 to 7 December have about a 7 in 10 chance. From about 8 December, promise after Christmas.
  • Canada and Australia: plan on the end of November too, but treat the first week of December as a coin flip, not a 7 in 10.
  • EU: same as Canada and Australia.
  • UK: too few UK orders in last year's peak to measure, so treat the end of November as the latest.

These are last year's odds, not a guarantee. The 2026 calendar sits one weekday later than 2025, and a bad week at customs or a grounded flight can move them.

What to do this quarter

  1. Reorder anything running low now. Suppliers close for Golden Week, so plan on stock landing after mid October.
  2. Put an order-by date on your store now, with "order by 30 November for Christmas delivery" for the US and the same wording, or a few days earlier, for Canada, Australia and the EU.
  3. Switch the banner on 1 December to "may arrive after Christmas" rather than removing it.
  4. Push Christmas promos into November. Black Friday week was the last week that reliably made it.
  5. Offer a gift card or printable voucher for December orders that will not arrive in time.
  6. Expect more "where is my order" tickets from the first week of December, when the median parcel is 5 days slower than in early November.
  7. Reprice EU orders before 1 November for the new €2 fee.

How we handle this at Commercive

Commercive is your all in one sourcing and fulfilment partner. We ship from China on frontier lines like YunExpress, Yanwen and 4PX, and every figure in this guide comes from our own parcels.

None of the lines we ship on has published a 2026 peak notice as of 30 September. Carriers usually announce peak surcharges and holiday cut-offs in October and November, and when they do, we pass them to every client with the dates that apply to their lanes.

Every parcel we ship shows its live status in our dashboard, and our measured delivery times by line and country are public on our shipping status page. For where the days go on a normal parcel, see how long shipping from China actually takes.

If you're currently running a brand, just give us the product and your daily order volume. We'll get you a quote within the next 24 hours to hold up against what you're paying today.

How we measured this. Measured on our parcels for orders placed 3 November to 21 December 2025 (Christmas) and 15 September to 26 October 2025 (Golden Week), all shipping lines pooled, test stores excluded. "Arrived by Christmas Eve" means the carrier's first delivered scan came before 25 December. Days are calendar days from the moment the customer ordered. Dates for 2026 are projected from last year and are not guarantees. Golden Week dates are from China's State Council holiday notice (4 November 2025); USPS dates from USPS (25 August 2026).

What is the last day to order from China for Christmas delivery?

For the US on standard lines, around 30 November. Last year about 9 in 10 US orders placed by then arrived by Christmas Eve, 7 in 10 of those placed 1 to 7 December, and 1 in 4 of those placed 8 to 14 December. For Canada, Australia and the EU, plan on the end of November.

How much does Golden Week delay shipping from China?

About 2 to 3 days door to door. Last year orders placed in Golden Week week took a median 14.0 days against 11.4 days two weeks earlier, and were back to normal by mid October. The bigger risk is suppliers closing for the week, which pushes restocks to mid October.

When is Golden Week 2026?

1 to 7 October 2026, with Saturday 10 October as a make-up working day, according to China's State Council holiday notice.

How much slower is shipping from China in December?

About 5 to 6 days slower at the median for the US. Last year US orders took a median 10.7 days in early November and 17.1 days for orders placed 8 to 14 December. Canada, Australia and the EU were closer to 3 weeks for December orders.

Should I switch to a faster line for the holidays?

Switching in December rarely helps, because the slowdown is at every step: flights, customs and the last mile. A frontier line matters more for the whole year than for one month. Moving your promotions and order-by dates earlier does more for Christmas than changing line.
