Yanwen shipping times: how long Yanwen takes to the US, measured, and how to read Yanwen tracking
Yanwen parcels to the US took a median 8.6 days from Yanwen's pickup scan to the door, and 9 in 10 arrived within 12.

Search how long Yanwen takes to the US and you get answers from 5 to 14 days up to 16 to 35, with "35 to 60 in peak season" on top. Most of them describe a different Yanwen product, and none says when the clock starts.
Measured on Yanwen parcels to the US from June to mid-August 2026, the median parcel took 8.6 days from Yanwen's pickup scan to the delivered scan, which is 6 business days. 9 in 10 arrived within 11.9 days, and about 1 in 100 took longer than three weeks.
This guide covers:
- How long Yanwen takes to the US from its pickup scan, in calendar and business days
- Why the Yanwen times you find online disagree so much
- How far the slow end runs
- Every stage of a Yanwen tracking history, and on which day it usually shows
- How to read a Yanwen tracking number and the handover to a local carrier

How long Yanwen takes to the US: about 9 days at the median
Counted from Yanwen's pickup scan in China to the first delivered scan, on US parcels that got one:
- Median: 8.6 days, or 6 business days
- Half of parcels: between 6.9 and 9.9 days
- 9 in 10: within 11.9 days, or 9 business days
- 99 in 100: within 21.6 days
Almost every parcel got there: 99.5% of US parcels with a pickup scan reached a delivered scan.
Canada looked much the same on a smaller sample: a median of 8.6 days and 9 in 10 within 11.7. Only about 8 in 10 Canadian parcels passed a delivered scan back to the tracking, so the Canadian figures cover the ones that did. New Zealand was a little quicker on a smaller sample still.
Why the Yanwen times you find online disagree
Yanwen sells several products under one name: express lines, registered post and economy post, each with general goods and special goods versions, plus separate US express products. A tracking site that quotes "16 to 35 days" and one that quotes "10 to 14 days" are often describing different products.
Three more things change the number:
- Which event starts the clock. The first status on a Yanwen number is usually label data, such as "Order processed by shipper" or "Shipping Order Created". The parcel may still be at the seller's warehouse. The Yanwen Pickup Scan is the first sign that Yanwen has it, which is why every figure here starts there.
- Business days or calendar days. The US median of 8.6 calendar days is 6 business days. A quote in business days reads two or three days shorter for the same parcel.
- Order or pickup. Your customer counts from the day they ordered. Add your own time from order to pickup scan to every figure here before you put it at checkout.
The slow end: two weeks covers 97 in 100 US parcels
The median is the parcel in the middle. Refund requests and "where is my order" emails come from the slow end.

- Within 7 days of pickup: 27%
- Within 10 days: 76%
- Within 14 days: 97%
- More than 21 days: 1.1%, about 1 parcel in 90
So the Yanwen slow end to the US is short: the gap between the median and the slowest 1 in 10 is about three days. The parcels that go past three weeks are rare enough to handle one by one.
Every stage of a Yanwen tracking history, and when it shows
A Yanwen tracking history uses the same wording on almost every US parcel, so each status tells you roughly how far along the parcel is. Here is each stage, with the median day it appeared after the pickup scan:

- Order processed by shipper / Shipping Order Created / Processing information input. Label data. The parcel may not have left the seller yet.
- Yanwen Pickup Scan. Yanwen has the parcel. Day 0 for everything below.
- Yanwen facility - Outbound. Sorted and leaving Yanwen's facility, around day 2.4.
- Port of departure - Received by carrier, then Departure. Handed to the airline and flown, departing around day 3.9. From the outbound scan to departure took 1.5 days at the median.
- Port of destination - Arrival. Landed in the US, around day 4.3. The flight itself takes hours, not days.
- Pick up by local carrier at destination port / International shipment release - Import. Released and handed to the US carrier, around day 5.0. From arrival to release took 0.6 days at the median, and 9 in 10 were released within 1.6 days.
- Hub and facility scans. The local carrier moves the parcel across the US. Hubs are often named by an airport code, such as LAX, JFK or DFW.
- Out for delivery, around day 7.8, then delivered, around day 8.6.
The quietest stretch is step 7. From import release to out for delivery took 2.6 days at the median, and 9 in 10 were out for delivery within 4.8 days of release. A parcel sitting on a hub scan for three or four days is normal; one quiet for a week after release is worth a look. The guide to why your parcel from China is stuck has the normal quiet time after each status.
How to read a Yanwen tracking number
A Yanwen tracking number is two letters, nine digits, and ends in YP, 13 characters in all. You can track it on Yanwen's site or on any tracking aggregator.
Two things in a Yanwen history confuse customers:
- "Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item" early on. About 1 in 10 US parcels show this near the start. The US delivery label is made in advance; it does not mean the parcel is already in the US, and it is not stuck. The real US scans start after import release.
- A new company name at the end. For the last leg, Yanwen hands the parcel to a US carrier: USPS, or a private delivery company. The delivered scan is written by that carrier, often with where the parcel was left, such as the front door or "other secured locations".
If a customer writes in on a parcel that shows "USPS Awaiting Item", the answer is in the stage list above: find the latest Yanwen status, and that tells you how many days are likely left.
What delivery time to show for Yanwen orders
Your shipping rate name is the promise your customer reads, and it should be in calendar days from the order. The Yanwen part of that number, from pickup to the door, held within 12 days for 9 in 10 US parcels in this window. To that, add:
- Your time from order to the Yanwen pickup scan. Measure it on your own orders: it depends on your processing and your warehouse, not on Yanwen.
- A margin for December, when every route slows. The guide to Q4 shipping dates from China has last year's peak numbers.
The guide to a shipping policy for a store that ships from China has order-to-door ranges by country across all lines, and the wording to put them in.
How to check it for your own store
- Export your last three months of orders with the tracking number, order date and delivered date.
- Keep the numbers ending in YP to look at Yanwen on its own.
- Find the pickup scan date for each one in the tracking history, and work out days from pickup to delivered and from order to pickup.
- Work out the median and the slowest 1 in 10 of each. The sum of the two slow ends is a safe promise.
- Count the orders over 21 days. That share is your refund risk, and on these numbers it should be close to 1 in 100.
What to do
- Start the clock at the Yanwen Pickup Scan, not at the first status on the number
- Quote calendar days from the order, adding your own order-to-pickup time
- Tell customers about the USPS label status, so "Awaiting Item" does not read as stuck
- Check a parcel by its latest status, using the stage days above, not by how many days it has been
- Measure your own parcels every quarter, because the product and the season move the numbers
How we handle this at Commercive
Commercive is your all in one sourcing and fulfilment partner. We recommend frontier lines like YunExpress, Yanwen and 4PX to essentially every brand we work with, and the line is chosen per product and per destination.
Every parcel's scans show in our dashboard from the first carrier scan to the delivered scan, including the handover to the local carrier, so you can see which stage a Yanwen parcel is at and measure your own times instead of trusting a quote. Our measured delivery times by line and country are on our shipping status page, the guide to YunExpress shipping times covers the line that carries most of our parcels, and the guide to WanbExpress shipping times measures a mid-tier line the same way.
If you're currently running a brand, just give us the product and your daily order volume. We'll get you a quote within the next 24 hours to hold up against what you're paying today.
How we measured this. Every Yanwen parcel shipped from stores we fulfil from China with a first tracking event between 1 June and 15 August 2026, test stores excluded, measured on 14 October 2026 so every parcel had at least 59 days. Times are calendar days from the Yanwen Pickup Scan to the first delivered scan, on parcels that had both; 94.5% of US parcels carried a pickup scan. Business days count Monday to Friday and do not remove public holidays. Stage days are medians over the parcels that show each status. Canada and New Zealand are smaller samples than the US. Published Yanwen times are from tracking aggregator pages and Yanwen's own site, read on 14 October 2026.
How long does Yanwen take to the US?
On Yanwen parcels to the US from June to mid-August 2026, the median was 8.6 days from Yanwen's pickup scan to delivered, or 6 business days. 9 in 10 arrived within 11.9 days of the pickup scan. Add your own time from order to pickup for what the customer sees.
Why is my Yanwen tracking not updating?
The longest normal quiet spell is inside the US, after "International shipment release - Import": it took a median 2.6 days to reach out for delivery, and 9 in 10 within 4.8 days. Before the pickup scan, the number shows only label data, so a few quiet days there mean the parcel has not been collected yet.
What does "USPS Awaiting Item" mean on a Yanwen parcel?
The US delivery label was created in advance. It shows early on about 1 in 10 Yanwen parcels to the US and does not mean the parcel has reached the US. The US scans start after the import release.
What does a Yanwen tracking number look like?
Two letters, nine digits and the letters YP at the end, 13 characters in all. The same number carries the scans from China and from the US carrier.
Who delivers Yanwen parcels in the US?
Yanwen hands the last leg to a US carrier, USPS or a private delivery company depending on the area. The delivered scan is written by that carrier, which is why the customer may see a company name they do not recognise.
